Ralph Salazar vs James Reid, Nadine Lustre? 'Totoong Singer' Comment Spreads!

He may not be the most popular young singer out there but Rhap Salazar definitely has respect for talent and the music industry! He's no Charice nor Darren Espanto but he certainly knows he's got the voice that could launch a thousand ships. Definitely, this man knows that his job is to entertain with his talent.

He may not be an engineer or an insurance attorney, but this boy surely knows he's a damn good singer. Back when he was just a contestant at Little Big Star, Salazar wowed the audience and he was deemed the young prince of balladeer and the next Jed Madela. However, not a lot of people were happy when he made a comment about artists lip-syncing on TV!

This fierce lad firmly believes people need to evaluate talent and separate adoration for their pretty face. He said on his tweet last weekend: I hate seeing artists lip-syncing on TV.

He made it known that he's not comfortable that there are pretty faces out there try so hard to be singers and dancers, and most of them even surpass the better singers and dancers of their batch.

One of his friend singers, who happens to be another WCOPA winner, Aria Clemente added that: "they made us do that in Shoutout then nag-complain in the end bakit tayo nagli-lip sync" He then followed with Nahiya naman tayong totoong singers.

That comment didn't sit well with some of his followers, especially those who support JaDine - the ones performing at ASAP 20 when the young singer posted that on Twitter. He even went far as saying "Yung iba, nagkaka-album pa."

Respectful that he is, Rhap Salazar just told his followers that's just his opinion and he hopes for their understanding.

In defense of James Reid and Nadine Lustre - the tandem individually signed artist contracts with Viva Records prior to hopping to Star Magic.

Clemente and Salazar both won at the WCOPA, same competition where Jed Madela got a gold a few years back.

If you don't know Rhap Salazar, here's his haunting rendition of Lay Me Down by Sam Smith.

  2. you sing well. this rendition sounds so much like the original though. you need to sing this song with your own style or own twist so people can tell it's you singing apart from the original singer or other singers
